Cultural Foods Project


Due Wednesday, February 28th or Thursday, March 1st at the beginning of class.

You are required to pick one country to research. You must create a blog. You will need to go to blogspot.com to make your blog.   When it asks for an address, you need to put your country’s name and your first name.  You also need to send me your link once you begin.  A blog is a type of website that can contain commentary or news on a particular subject; or function as an online journal.  You may choose to make your blog an informative blog or a journal type blog.  We will discuss both types in class.  Regardless, your blog you must include all of the following:

·       Geographic location and climate of your country
·       Common cooking methods used in your country
·       Flavor principles used in your country (seasonings, spices, herbs, sauces)
·       Meal schedule of your country (Do they eat meals at different times than Americans?)

·       Example of a typical meal eaten in your country
1.    List/description of common dishes served in your country
2.    Foods eaten in America that originated from your country. Which region of the U.S. does your country’s cuisine influence?
3.    Food habits pertaining to religious practices/Traditional holiday dishes
4.    One food related interesting fact about your country
5.    Self-evaluation - What grade do you think you should receive?
6.    At least 10 pictures
